For a night when you want to feel classy without busting the bank, oyster happy hours are just the ticket. Springing up around the country, these little windows of time when oysters can be had for less than $2 are a foodie trend for the masses. Here are five of the best in NYC.
Maison Premiere
Head to Williamsburg 4–7 p.m. Monday through Friday or 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday for $1 oysters. With 30 varieties, an impressive cocktail menu and an atmosphere pulled straight from Paris circa 1930, it’s a great date spot or pre-dinner stop on a night out.
The Dead Rabbit
Located in the Financial District, this award-winning hotspot features $1 oysters every day from 5 to 7 p.m. Pair your oysters with one of five signature absinthe cocktails for an even more luxurious, budget friendly treat.
The Mermaid Inn
This Upper West Side staple has thrown off time constraints to offer $1 oysters all night on Mondays, with regular happy hour times the rest of the week. What’s not to love about getting a great deal without having to fight crowds to get a seat at 5 o’clock?
Littleneck
The $1.50 price tag makes this Gowanus spot a little more pricey than others, but with cocktail and beer specials it’s still a great deal! Head here for Blue Points until 7 p.m.
John Dory Oyster Bar
So the price is a bit high ($2), but this NoMad favorite features drink deals that range from on-tap Prosecco to oyster shooters, making it a fun spot to splurge. Stop by from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday or noon to 3 p.m. on weekends.
