Traveling to or around Saranac Lake, New York? Here are the best spots to grab a bite.

Located within Hotel Saranac, a Curio Collection property by Hilton, Campfire Adirondack Grill + Bar is definitely the poshest place to dine and drink in this small town. The modern eatery serves a limited seasonal menu filled with local ingredients. After dinner, head upstairs to the historic bar for the hotel’s signature cocktail, The Hot Sara.

Likely the best Saranac Lake restaurant with a view, Boathouse Saranac Lake Pub also offers a limited menu with locally inspired fare, but with a large, airy dining room and a porch right on the water. You can even pull your boat up to the dock during the summer.

If you’re craving a pub-style setting and casual digs after a long day of hiking, Downhill Grill can deliver. Grab a booth, a beer and a burger at this easygoing restaurant. Interestingly enough, the restaurant is literally situated on a downhill portion of the main drag.

If you’re staying overnight in Saranac Lake and need a hearty breakfast before you head out on the trails, go to Blue Moon Cafe. The ever-busy crowd favorite offers big servings of classic breakfast fare, with sidewalk dining in the open air.

Lastly, if you have a craving for pizza, go to this spot to choose from fantastic options by the slice or by the pie (and likely some of the best gluten-free pizza in the region). Your best bet is to place your order to go, as the service is on the slower side. You wouldn’t be alone in doing so. A constant stream of people goes in and out the front door for counter service only.
