Lisbon is a gorgeous confection of elegant architecture and glimpses of the Rio Tejo. The seven hills of this beautiful, and ancient, capital also mean you can get some killer views as you wind your way through its complex and welcoming streets.
This city of hills can be exhausting for a pedestrian tourist. That’s when this quaint and beautiful Neo-Gothic elevator — that connects downtown and the hilly neighborhood of Bairro Alto — comes in handy. It includes views of Rossio Square and the old Fado district of Alfama.
This neighborhood is one of the hilliest and most popular. Wind your way up old streets to catch different views of the city. Also enjoy the beautiful Estrela Basilica for some old Lisbon history. This Basilica also boasts some of the most beautiful views in the city.
For some gorgeous greenery and a view out to the water, Edward VII Parque offers visitors a refreshing diversion. There are two hothouses full of exotic plants and a beautiful lawn manicured into geometric designs. The park was named after England’s Edward VII, if you were curious.
This gorgeous park crowns the romantic old quarter of Alfama, where the musical tradition of Fado was born. It overlooks the red rooftops of Lisbon and a glimpse of the Castelo de Sao Jorge on another hill.
This beautiful castle boasts Moorish architecture and remains one of Lisbon’s crowning glories. The esplanades and ramparts offer a 360-degree view of the city and many claim this hill was the cradle of the Portuguese capital.
