The weather in New Orleans can be brutal, so it’s good to know where you can get delicious, refreshing treats.

Piety Street Sno-Ball: Inside the Old Ironworks, grab a New Orleans style sno-ball kicked up a notch. A Piety Street sno-ball is a cup of crushed ice with unique, all natural syrups and an assortment of toppings. On a hot day, try the Kaffir Limeade with condensed milk and a scoop of ice cream in the center.

Daiquiri: If you need a cheap, sweet alcoholic beverage, sometimes the best way to go is the New Orleans-style daiquiri. Stop into Gene’s Daiquiris in the Marigny and get a “Purple Stuff” or the “Twisted Sister” with a shot (or two) extra.

Creole Creamery Freeze:Located uptown on Prytania Street, the Creole Creamery offers a refreshing concoction called a Freeze. Similar to a milkshake, a freeze is made with sherbet or sorbet and is blended with soda water and topped with a cherry. You can also try their many home-made ice cream flavors such as vanilla bourbon with brown sugar, strawberry jalapeno cheesecake and candied bacon and cinnamon.

Sucré’s Nectar Soda Gelato: In addition to their popular French macarons, this uptown confection studio offers home-made gelato from first-cut Louisiana cane sugar, milk from local dairies and quality ingredients. Exclusive to Louisiana, the nectar soda in their gelato is a neon-pink mixture with almond and vanilla flavoring.

The Bywater Bomber: If you’re walking around the Bywater neighborhood, stop in to Booty’s Street Food and get their signature frozen concoction, the Bywater Bomber. These craft daiquiris are made with Old New Orleans rum, pineapple, orange, lime and Booty’s house-made bitters.
