Australia

Australia has one of the most unique topographies in the world. In fact, it’s in the Top 10 for the countries with the most biodiversity. With so much there to see it might be hard to choose which wonders to fit into your trip. Here are the five you have to see to believe.

The Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is 25 million years old and is the largest living thing on Earth visible from space. That’s pretty epic, right? It’s also home to 1,500 different species of fish and 400 types of coral. If you manage to do nothing else while in Australia, make sure you book a scuba diving trip to check this thing out.

Fraser Island

You’ll have to hop on a boat to see the world’s largest sand island. Fraser Island is the only place in the world where you can find rainforests growing on sand dunes. Those dunes happen to be 240 meters above sea level.

Bungle Bungles

The Bungle Bungles Ranges have been around 350 million years. These tiger-striped domes rise 300 meters from the ground and are surrounded by tropical pools, caves and gorges. They’re best viewed from the air, so book a helicopter tour of the area instead of traveling in by foot.

Uluru

The Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park is a sacred site of the indigenous Anangu tribe. Its main attraction is a 348-meter high monolith standing tall among the surrounding flat landscape. The best time to visit is at sunrise or sunset to catch the brilliant red hues bouncing off of it.

Shark Bay

Shark Bay is one of the largest World Heritage sites. It’s actually two bays located on the western shore of Australia and is home to thousands of unique animals and vibrant sand dunes and cliffs. Don’t worry, though, it only gets its name from its shape. You won’t get eaten here.
