Top 5 / Europe

Exploring Luxembourg City is like discovering an exciting new treat around every corner. There’s more to see and do here than you’d probably imagine for a city this small. Here are the best attractions you shouldn’t miss.

The Old Quarter

Luxembourg City’s Old Quarter is a UNESCO World Heritage site for good reason. Once the home of Europe’s stronger fortification, it’s now jam-packed with charming fairy-tale like houses lining the cobbled streets. The area is teeming with parks and gardens to explore.

National Museum of History and Art

For a complete picture of the cultural and artistic history of Luxembourg, there’s no better place to go than the National Museum of History and Art. Though it covers just about every aspect of the country’s history, it focuses primarily on the Gallo-Roman period and life in Luxembourg from the 16th to 20th century.

Bock

The famous Bock cliffs are home to the Casemates, a series of underground passages built right into solid rock. They cover 40,000 square meters and were used to house defenders and horses from invaders and date back to the 1300s.

Notre Dame Cathedral

Though not as storied as the similarly named cathedral in Paris, the Notre Dame Cathedral in Luxembourg is still an impressive work of art. The building is still home to worship services as well as other performances throughout the year, so consider getting tickets when you can.

Passerelle

The Passerelle, or Viaduc, is a viaduct that runs from the south of town in the city center. The views overlooking the valley below are utterly breathtaking and it’s a superb way to take in the sights without spending any money.
