Qalat al Bahrain

This ancient fort has changed hands so many times it’s hard to keep track of who owns it and who doesn’t. It spent much of its time under control of the Portuguese, but was also owned by the Persians and various Arabic tribes throughout times. It’s a great historical site and a wonderful way to view the Manama skyline from a distance.

Tree of Life

This sacred landmark is considered one of the country’s most cherished spots. It’s just a lonely tree in the middle of the desert that probably shouldn’t be growing there, but locals and visitors feel it puts them closer to God.
