International SOS, a medical and travel security services firm, recently released the results of its forecast of the top health and security risks for 2020 travel. The list is compiled by a group of experts in the fields of health, security and safety.
Based on research, these are the top projected concerns for 2020:
- Geopolitical shifts: Risks from these shifts will prove a challenge for businesses.
- Mental health: These issues will hold greater importance.
- Physical health: Companies will make strides to safeguard the physical health of its employees.
- Cyber crime: These crimes will likely grow and impose a stronger risk.
- Climate change: Climate change will cause environmental problems.
- Infectious disease outbreaks: Various factors, including climate change and urbanization, will increase the presence and spread of infectious diseases.
- Bleisure travel: Whether or not employers are considered responsible for covering bleisiure travel will become part of the conversation in the workplace.
- Millennials and Generation Z: These demographics will challenge employers with different preferences, expectations and attitudes.
- High profile Duty of Care cases: Duty of care is the legal obligation to decrease risk. These types of high-profile cases will increase.
- Start-ups and small- and medium-sized enterprises: These companies are often under-resourced, which can lead to Duty of Care issues.
