When you think of top hiking in the United States, you might think of national parks near the Rocky Mountains, the rugged mountains of Vermont, the Adirondacks or the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina — but you might not think of Kentucky. However, the Bluegrass State offers a wealth of great hiking options, like the ones below.
Red River Gorge
With a unique landscape filled with geological features you wouldn’t expect to see in Kentucky, Red River Gorge is a favorite hiking and rock-climbing destination for both locals and visitors. Hike to sandstone arches, waterfalls and, of course, gorges.
Breaks Interstate Park
On the Kentucky-Virginia border, this park boasts the Grand Canyon of the South. As such, expect plenty of scenic views, whether hiking, rafting or biking.
Cumberland Gap National Historical Park
For hiking with a side of history, try Cumberland Gap National Historical Park, with its connections to the legendary Daniel Boone, as well as the Civil War.
Daniel Boone National Forest
Find lush forests and a mix of hiking trails for every fitness level at Daniel Boone National Forest. With premiere hiking options, as well as easy access to nearby small towns, it’s a convenient destination in central-southern Kentucky.

United Continues Its Global Expansion
United Airlines keeps soaring to new heights, recently announcing another expansion of its leading global route network. The airline added new non-stop flights between Newark (EWR) and Marrakesh (RAK), Morocco; Tokyo (NRT) and Cebu (CEB), Philippines; and Houston (IAH) and Medellin (MDE), Colombia.
