United Van Lines recently released the results of its 38th Annual National Movers Study of 2014 moving habits. “We’ve been tracking the number of inbound and outbound domestic moves for nearly four decades, and through our data are able to identify the most and least popular states for residential relocation year after year. This year we also surveyed customers to determine why they were relocating,” said Melissa Sullivan, director of marketing communications, United Van Lines.
Oregon takes the top spot for inbound moves. For the third consecutive year, New Jersey, New York and Illinois make up the top of the list for outbound moves.

The study is based on moves handled by United Van Lines within the contiguous United States, including Washington D.C.
