Canada might be known primarily for its harsh winters and its citizens’ penchants for being overly polite, but many tourists are discovering another aspect of the country worth talking about — the gardens.
Ontario, in particular, is becoming famous for its wealth of beautifully crafted gardens that can be found all throughout the province.
Miles of perennials dot the landscape in this Canadian wonderland during the warmer season, which, admittedly, isn’t very long. That’s why you should start planning your trip for the summer now.
Garden tours of popular spots like Dutton-Dunwich and the city of Sarnia are favorites among tourists. Prices are affordable, running between $10 and $20 per tour and many of them offer guides if you so desire. Of course, you’re always free to hop in a car and tour the countryside on your own and see what you can find.
Ontario is a large province, so planning ahead is a great idea, but it might also be interesting to drive and see what you happen to stumble upon as there are no shortage of breathtaking gardens in the area.
The Ontario Horticultural Association is just one of many groups providing comprehensive information and listings of special events and garden tours happening throughout the province, so be sure to check with them to get help planning your next tour.
