Flying has its perks, but have you ever longed to stand up and walk around, to sit at a table and eat a meal, to see the land of the United States up-close or to escape the frenzied pace of travel that defines airports?
If so, then you should consider taking the train on your next trip.
Amtrak offers travelers more than 30 train routes in the United States, and 500 destinations in 46 states. Besides the one-way, round-trip and multi-city tickets, Amtrak also offers travelers special rail passes that allow you to get on, and off at different destinations over a certain span of time. This option is perfect if you’re looking to enjoy an extended U.S.A. trip. Passes can be purchased for 15 days and 8 segments (adults, $499), 30 days and 12 segments ($679) or 45 days and 18 segments ($879). A segment is anytime you get on and off a train.
Amtrak also takes the tediousness of planning off your shoulders with regional, multi-day, multi-destination vacation packages that include overnight accommodations and meals. Choose from independent or guided tours across popular regions and cities in the United States.
And if scenery is what you’re after, then check out the list of the 12 most scenic routes, as compiled by Amtrak.
