Tips / Travel

Every day, there seems to be a new deal for an insanely low-cost flight from the United States to Europe, but most of these flights are offered by discount, long-haul carriers, and therefore offer limited opportunities to earn or redeem miles. However, recent data from Scott’s Cheap Flights, analyzed prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, revealed the U.S. airlines that offer the most deals on international flights, and the results may be surprising. And, hopefully, the results return as travel ramps back up.

The flight-tracking website analyzed more than 7,000 deal alerts from airlines throughout 2019 and discovered which airlines have the best international flight deals from each state.

The report reveals that, for the majority of states, the most frequent flight deals were offered by the big three: American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United. These three airlines accounted for 56 percent of the deals on international flights.

Coming in at fourth place is Air Canada (the only non-U.S. carrier on the list), fifth place went to Alaska Airlines and sixth went to JetBlue.

Paring further down to regional analysis, the bulk of United’s flight deals were targeted to the western states, Delta dominated the South and Midwest, and American’s deals mostly covered the East Coast.

Other data showed the state that is offered the highest number of flight deals is California, where 69 different carriers offer international routes and 4,844 flight deals were advertised in 2019, followed by Florida (62 carriers with 4,019 deals), New York (74 carriers with 2,941 deals) and Texas (55 airlines with 2,078 deals).
