Located in the Zhejiang province in eastern China, Hangzhou is a city with a rich cultural history and beautiful natural scenery. It will also be the host of the 2016 G20 Summit.

Order a quick tea and pastry at Panini. Located near Zhejiang University, this sandwich shop is ideal for a quick, cheap bite. Breakfast costs about $5. Grab your food to go and take a stroll through the sprawling West Lake. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is Hangzhou’s most popular attraction.

For lunch, stop at Grandma’s. With several locations throughout the city, this restaurant is popular among locals and tourists for its tasty dishes and low prices. Keep in mind: Depending on the time of day, you can expect to wait 30 minutes to two hours to be seated — it’s worth the wait. Don’t travel with a large group to Grandma’s. Spend $10 or less on lunch.

Make your way to Lingyin Temple and the Flying Peak. The active Buddhist temple is one of the largest in China. The temple is set among the Feilai Feng (Flying Peak) grottos, which boasts hundreds of stunning Buddha carvings. Admission to the Flying Peak and Lingyin Temple costs $11. Located a quick walk from the temple is Tianwaitian Restaurant. Sample some of Hangzhou’s signature cuisine at this traditional Chinese restaurant for dinner. Served family style, select from signature dishes including beggar’s chicken, West Lake fish in sweet and sour sauce or shrimp cooked in Longjing tea. Dinner costs about $20.

End your day with a viewing of Impression West Lake, the stunning outdoor show directed by Zhang Yimou, director of the 2008 Beijing Olympics’ opening ceremony. The spectacular show takes place on West Lake — literally. The stage is three inches below the water, giving an effect the performers are walking on water. Tickets cost $40.
