When it comes to cruising, focused itineraries that let passengers have new experiences tend to be at the top of most people’s lists. Viking Cruises is increasing the amount of experiences it offers with a host of new expedition voyages.
The new class of voyage, Viking Expeditions, kicks off in 2022 when the Viking Octantis sails to Antarctica and the Great Lakes of North America. In August 2022, Viking Polaris sails to Antarctica and the Arctic. The sailings are about two years away, but bookings are now open for the public.
“We invented the concept of modern river cruising when we launched in 1997; then we reinvented ocean cruises and became the ‘World’s Best Ocean Cruise Line’ in our first year of operation, as well as every year since then. Now, in creating ‘the thinking person’s expedition,’ we are perfecting polar expedition cruising, and we will usher in a new era of comfortable exploration in the heart of North America,” said Torstein Hagen, chairman, Viking.
The new Polar Class 6 ships host 378 guests in 189 staterooms. The ships are still under construction, but feature modern Scandinavian design with close attention to detail.
Some of the itineraries include expeditions to South America, Antarctica and the Arctic. Some of the Antarctic sailings depart from Buenos Aires.
Check out the new sailings and book your next overwater adventure.
Other cruise lines that offer polar sailings include Ponant and Abercrombie and Kent Expeditions.
