The Munich Airport Center is practically an event venue, rather than part of an airport, playing host to a variety of sporting, entertainment and holiday events throughout the year. Located between Terminals 1 and 2 and home to a vast amount of available space, Munich Airport Center always offers something to draw in visitors from both the city of Munich and abroad.
A popular annual summer event held at Munich Airport Center is the Lufthansa and Munich Airport Surf & Style Event, which brings the biggest stationary surfing wave ever created to the venue. With a surfing championship, surf camps for kids and teens and free surfing for all skill levels and age groups, it’s easy to see why this event has become such a crowd favorite.
The Munich Airport Center has also frequently played host to large fan gatherings for international sporting events such as the Soccer World Championships in both 2010 and 2014. Thousands of fans are able to gather in the broad space to cheer on their teams on the 40-square-meter LED screen.
During the holiday months, the space completely transforms to welcome the arrival of the Munich Airport Winter Market. With 450 real Christmas trees, an ice skating rink and live musicians, there’s plenty to keep you entertained, and that’s before you visit the more than 45 holiday market stalls selling everything from mulled wine and holiday treats to Bavarian handicrafts.
