Fans of video games all over the country know Nintendo, New York sits in Rockefeller Center in New York City.
The store is a two-story love letter to all things Nintendo. Statues of beloved characters are situated throughout, ready and willing for pictures. Merchandise, memorabilia, apparel and, of course, actual games line the walls. For fans of the storied Japanese game maker, Nintendo, New York is paradise.
The store is located at 10 Rockefeller Plaza and is typically open 9 a.m.–8 p.m. On weekends, the store is open a bit later, until 9 p.m. On Sunday, the store has abbreviated, but still accessible, hours, 11 a.m.–7 p.m.
On special occasions, such as the launch of a highly anticipated game, the store hosts special events and celebrations for fans. In the past, high-level Nintendo executives stopped by to meet and greet with fans. When the store re-opened in 2015, after a brief closure for rebranding, the voice of Mario himself, Charles Martinet, took pictures alongside Mario and Luigi.
In addition to the merchandise available for purchase, guests can look at the complete collection of Amiibos on the store’s second floor, some rare collectibles from Nintendo’s storied history and even a Gameboy console that went through a fire and still works to this day.
Fans of videogames coming to or through Manhattan should do themselves a favor and stop by this Nintendo temple.
