The Warwick Allerton Hotel is a property I can instantly pick out of the Chicago cityscape, due to its bright-red, neon, Tip Top Tap lounge sign that still remains on the roof from the days when Sinatra performed there regularly. Despite my acknowledgement of its existence, however, I had never stayed there until this summer.
Nicely situated on Magnificent Mile, the historic Warwick Allerton Hotel is easy to find and a good starting point for wherever you wish to go in the city. The tiny foyer leads to a more spacious lobby on the second floor, where courteous and helpful staff members will help you check-in and deliver your bags to your room.
The standard rooms are small and more aptly suited to someone staying just a night or two, or who doesn’t plan to spend much time in their room. The suites, however, are very spacious, private and quiet — no need to worry about hearing noises from across the hall or waking up your neighbors if you intend to make use of the entertainment system in the wee hours of the morning.
The specialty suite I stayed in had a large sitting room with a desk and drinks area, as well as a spacious bedroom with extra seating. I definitely enjoyed the unusual amount of windows and natural lighting, which brought in views of Water Tower on one side and Lake Michigan on the other. The ample comfortable seating was all used and greatly appreciated, as I had a steady stream of guests going in and out during the duration of my stay.
I will most definitely stay at the Warwick Allerton Hotel in the future, as well as recommend it to other travelers staying in Chicago.
