Shopping for clothes never feels more rewarding than when the profit goes to a good cause. Elephant Pants are a corporate sponsor of the African Wildlife Foundation, donating a portion of every sale to help prevent elephant poaching. The online store also helps the Ranger Program, donating to protect the rangers from the poachers. More than 1,000 rangers have been murdered by poachers in the last decade.
From 2010–2012, nearly 100,000 elephants were poached for ivory, essentially one elephant lost every 15 minutes, a 50 percent decline in population over the last 35 years. The fear is that the incredibly long gestation period could lead to a world without wild elephants by 2025. The company feels as if it is their duty to bring an end to the decline in their population.
In 2014, two friends found themselves looking up at the elephants and came to a realization. They understood why so many people traveled to see them and eventually became aware of the consequences of human-elephant conflict. The friends realized something had to be done, which is how Elephant Pants came about.
The company has now expanded upon the pants with leggings, shorts, loungers, dresses, tunics, crop tops, kimonos, accessories and much more.
