When going on a long, or even a weekend, trip, it can be hard to leave your furry best friend behind. Wag!, the trusted dog-walking service, recently surveyed pet parents nationwide to get a better idea of what obstacles they face when traveling with their four-legged friends.
The survey revealed 94 percent of pet parents would trade away at least one common amenity, like a hotel bar or gym, in exchange for more pet-friendly policies.
Some other key factors include 26 percent of pet owners rank “pet-friendly” as their most-wanted hotel attribute, coming ahead of service, comfort, convenience and affordability. Transportation can be a big issue; 56 percent of frequent travelers experienced confusion or other issues with the location of their dog on a plane. Thirty-six percent of respondents said they would pay more than $100 extra per night for pet-friendly accommodations at a hotel, and 84 percent encountered at least one issue with overnight stays when traveling with a dog or cat.
Most pet parents prefer to stay at Kimpton Hotels + Restaurants due to its recent partnership with Wag!.
If pet parents had no obstacles traveling with pets, 59 percent would bring their pet on trips all or most of the time.
