If you’re like most avid travelers, you have a travel bucket list of some sort. Maybe it’s just a fluid list that lives in the back of your mind. Maybe it’s a more formal list you’ve actually catalogued. Whatever the case, does your list overlap with most Americans?
A study from Desert Safari Dubai Tours & Tickets analyzed Google search data to uncover the destinations most Americans are likely to add to their bucket list and the top attraction — by far — is Niagara Falls, with more than 160,000 average monthly Google searches; though, in July, those searches can easily exceed 300,000.
The next top bucket list item is a bit further away: the Eiffel Tower. (Study organizers note the Eiffel Tower is also the most-visited paid landmark in the world).
Rounding out the top four bucket list travel destinations for Americans are Alcatraz Island and Central Park. However, the fifth item added to travel bucket lists isn’t a destination at all, but rather an experience: seeing the northern lights. Other top bucket list items the study noted include Buckingham Palace, the Grand Canyon, Times Square, Taj Mahal and Machu Picchu.
