McMinnville, Oregon, celebrates its historic UFO connections (in 1950, the destination was home to the Trent UFO sighting) with the annual McMenamins UFO Festival. This year, the fest takes place May 17–18, and includes a range of fun, UFO-themed events, whether or not you truly believe in little green men in flying saucers.
So what can you expect at this event’s 24th year? A celebration of all things extraterrestrial is a given, but more specific events include a UFO parade, 5K and a pet costume contest. There’s also a full schedule of expert speakers, including ufologists; authors; and, yes, even those who claim they’ve experienced their own alien encounters.
While you attend the event, get really into the spirit of all things alien with a stay at The Vintages. The trailer resort, outfitted with gorgeous, restored vintage trailers, offers up an immersive stay in its 1950’s Neutron, outfitted with alien-themed décor. During a stay, guests can add on extras to their trip, such as eBike rentals, local bottles of wine, campfire kits or snack spreads. Guests also enjoy access to complimentary cruiser bikes, an on-site general store and tasting passports granting guests special offerings at the surrounding wineries.
