Tips / Travel

Getting sick while on the road is every traveler´s worst nightmare. The best way to deal with the unpredictable (but sometimes inevitable) motion sickness, food poisoning or other travel-related malady is to be prepared. Before your next adventure, consider adding the following items to your luggage to equip yourself for any biological disaster that threatens to impede your travel plans.

Compression Socks

Before you even arrive at your destination, you can be at risk for issues like a deep vein thrombosis. Stave off potential blood clots and swelling by wearing compression socks during your flight.

Antibacterial Hand Gel

This item is an automatic addition to any germaphobe´s packing list. Although studies show the combination of soap and water is a better option when it comes to washing your hands, antibacterial hand gel is the next best thing when the luxuries of soap and running water are far, far away.

Water Purifier

Campers, hikers and travelers to remote locations with poor water quality should not leave home without some sort of way to access clean water regardless of the location. Whether a straw that kills bacteria before the water hits your lips or a water bottle with an internal purifier built into the mouth, consuming clean water is one of the best ways to stay healthy and ward off disease.

Bug Repellant and Sunscreen

Any outdoor travel should involve these two items, especially in tropical countries where the bugs are rampant and the sun is strong. If sprays are not allowed in your carry-on, consider roll-on balms or small packets of ointments instead.
