With 5 p.m. sunsets turning into 6 p.m. sunsets, New Yorkers head to their favorite cocktail lounges and bars to soak in golden hour with friends and good drinks. With countless bars and lounges in New York, where are locals sipping this spring?
The Perch at New York Marriott Marquis
Situated eight floors above Times Square, The Perch offers a modern, outdoor terrace vibe with sweeping views of the city. This bar, located within New York Marriott Marquis, serves seasonal cocktails and New York-inspired bites, including brick-oven pizza, New York cheesecake and more. Stop by for a pre- or post-Broadway drink or spend hours catching up with friends.
This urban chic, indoor/outdoor space overlooks the Hudson River and draws locals not only because of its views but also because of its over-the-top cocktails and seasonal menus. The spring menu features truffle fries, baked feta and more. Starting this spring, RoofTop will also host monthly Skyline Sip & Paints, in which patrons can set up their easel and paint the skyline with a professional artist present as a guide. This session comes with one complimentary wine or beer.
Blue Bar & Restaurant at The Algonquin Hotel
Complete with an opulent interior, this bar and restaurant lies within The Algonquin Hotel and is one of the city’s most glamorous spots to sip martinis and chat with friends. Marking the start of spring, the lobby bar serves Peepin’ Pink G ‘n’ Ts for a limited time. This concoction features Bols Genever Amsterdam gin, pink lemonade, Fever Tree lemon tonic water and a fluffy pink Peep on top. If Peeps aren’t your thing, peruse the bar’s menu of literary-themed cocktails, such as Writer’s Block or Hemingway Daquiri. The bar also serves dishes like edamame hummus and steakhouse burgers.
