Personal finance website WalletHub recently revealed the results of its survey on 2024’s best coffee cities in the United States. The team at WalletHub compared 100 of the largest cities in the country across 12 key indicators, including average price per pack of coffee and amount of coffee shops per capita.
The 20 best coffee cities in 2024 are:
- Portland, Oregon
- San Francisco, California
- Seattle, Washington
- Honolulu, Hawai’i
- Orlando, Florida
- Tampa, Florida
- Long Beach, California
- New Orleans, Louisiana
- Austin, Texas
- Miami, Florida
- Oakland, California
- Los Angeles, California
- Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
- San Diego, California
- Minneapolis, Minnesota
- Boston, Massachusetts
- Atlanta, Georgia
- Sacramento, California
- Chicago, Illinois
- Las Vegas, Nevada
The top three on the list (Portland, San Francisco and Seattle) also ranked highest for amount of high-rated, affordable coffee shops per capita. Austin and New Orleans are both among the cities with the lowest cost of a pack of coffee.
Laredo, Texas; Toledo, Ohio; Hialeah, Florida; Lubbock, Texas; and Detroit, Michigan make up the five least popular coffee cities. Lubbock had the highest cost of a cappuccino. Detroit ranked last for percentage of households that own coffee makers.
