Whether enjoying a nice pre-game dinner or celebrating your team’s win with a drink, New Orleans’ many restaurants and bars are here to make your Super Bowl trip all the more special. But where to eat in a city full of great options?
Here’s what we recommend:
For Louisiana and Globally Influenced Food: Palm&Pine
Created by James Beard: Best Chef South semi-finalists Jordan Herndon and Amarys Koenig Herndon, Palm&Pine draws inspiration from Louisiana, the American South, Caribbean, Mexico and Central America. Highlights include hot sausage carimañolas and corner store crudo. Don’t forget to try a creative cocktail, too.
For Elevated Creole Dishes: Tujague’s
At Tujague’s, in the French Quarter, you’ll not only be in the second-oldest restaurant in the city, but you’ll also be at the birthplace of brunch and the Grasshopper cocktail. Expect classics like turtle soup and shrimp and grits, as well as creative dishes like crispy pork belly and oysters en Brochette.
For New Orleans-Italian Fusion: BABs
BABs is a casually sophisticated spot highlighting Chef Nina Compton’s exceptional pasta-making skills. Dishes include wagyu beef lasagna with Fontina fonduta, spaghetti carbonara with andouille and black truffles, and cavatelli with shrimp run down sauce.
For Post-Game Brunch: Birdy’s
All-day brunch? Say no more. Birdy’s features Southern-inspired cuisine with standouts like polenta toast, funfetti bubble waffle and the famed Brunch Board (donut, granola, slab bacon, hot coppa, bubble waffle, fruit, seasonal jam, mini cookies, mini pancakes, triple crème brie and soft-boiled eggs). Be sure to pair these with bottomless mimosas or Birdy’s Bloody Mary.
For Southern Italian-Asian Fare: Beggars Banquet
Named after the famous Rolling Stones album, this new eatery includes unique dishes like fried green tomatoes with burrata, balsamic reduction and arugula, as well as duck leg confit with butternut squash, onion, bacon, pecans and hot honey. Cocktails like Best of Both Worlds (bourbon, sweet vermouth, Campari, cacao and coffee) are also sure to wow.
For a Drink at “Best American Hotel Bar”: Compère Lapin
Situated within Old No. 77 Hotel, Compère Lapin is the first NOLA restaurant to receive the Spirited Award by Tales of The Cocktail Foundation, honored as Best American Hotel Bar. On top of tasty drinks, this spot also serves dishes with French, Italian and Caribbean influences.
For Spanish Meals in the Bywater: Alma Café
This award-winning Honduran restaurant promises hearty dishes like baleadas, pollo chuco, carne asada, platano maduro, pupasas and marmahon.
For Mediterranean Food in Uptown: Costera
A wildly popular restaurant, Costera highlights Louisiana produce and Gulf seafood. Try the pan con tomate with roasted garlic aioli or the braised lamb shank with salsa verde and Manchego. The restaurant also boasts a wine list featuring Old World Spanish and French selections. Have a large group on game day? This restaurant has its own two-story private dining room.
For A Night in the Lower Garden District: The Bower and The Bower Bar
At this spot, enjoy house-made pastas like rigatoni with ground shrimp and crab, or tagliatelle with chicken saltimbocca. There’s also seared scallops, paneed pork loin and cocktails with farm-fresh ingredients. In fact, the bar features living green walls and plants, which you can enjoy while sipping 51 Problems, a concoction of beet-infused mezcal, passionfruit, lime, Suze, demerara and a smoked salt rim.
For Northern Italian/Spanish Cuisine: Osteria Lupo
Opened in 2023, this restaurant features a variety of house-made pastas, roasted meats and vegetables from the wood-fired oven. Osteria Lupo also serves seafood and other regional specialties in an open kitchen.
For West Coast-Meets-Mediterranean Vibes: Commons Club New Orleans
Located near the Superdome, Commons Club is the epicenter of Virgin Hotels New Orleans, featuring craft cocktails, a curated wine and Champagne selection, and tasty bar bites.
