When you think of top U.S. ski destinations, your mind probably goes to places like Utah or Vermont. However, West Virginia holds its own with a mix of ski slopes, resorts and areas open this February.

West Virginia’s ski season runs through April, and your skiing options include Canaan Valley Resort, Snowshoe Mountain Resort, Winterplace Ski Resort, Oglebay’s Nutting Winter Sports Complex and Timberline Mountain Resort. Across these venues, you’ll find a range of slopes for every ski level, more than two dozen lifts and terrain stretching to nearly 5,000 feet in elevation.
“West Virginia ski areas are the perfect destination for winter adventures, located just a few hours from cities like Columbus, Knoxville, Atlanta, Charlotte, and Washington, D.C.
