While most travelers wouldn’t exactly call an airport the most relaxing place in the world, we can all probably agree some airports are more stressful than others. As such, if you have options when choosing where you’ll fly into a destination, you might purposefully pick an airport that’s going to leave you feeling less stressed at the start or end of your trip.
To help you make that decision, a recent study analyzed more than 400 international and domestic airports to determine the most comfortable and peaceful airports in the world. The airport that came out on top? Likely no surprise, Incheon International Airport, often highly lauded for its amenities, was named the most relaxing airport in the world. Other contenders in the top five include Singapore Changi Airport, Bahrain International Airport, Hamad International Airport and Houston Hobby Airport.
In contrast, the study named Zhanjiang Airport in China as the least relaxing and most stressful airport in the world. Other significantly stressful airports as determined by the study include Havana Jose Marti International Airport and Yanji Chaoyangchuan Airport.
The study looked at airports’ Skytrax ratings and factors such as walkability, terminal comfort, terminal facilities, shopping and dining to determine the rankings. The study was conducted by Solitaired.
