Why You Don’t Need a Flower Girl or Ring Bearer

Wedding

Gone are the days of traditional wedding parties. It’s 2016 and it’s no longer out of the ordinary to see men standing on the side of the bride or vice versa, two brides or grooms or even a dog walking someone down the aisle.

One thing that’s certainly not necessary is a flower girl or ring bearer.

They’re Not Your Children

Okay, they’re most likely not your children unless you’re marrying later in life. That means you don’t have any responsibility to play dress up with someone else’s child. Unless they’re immediate family, you have no obligation to put them in your wedding.

Most People Don’t Want Kids There

The truth is, kids cause a lot of problems at weddings. They get tired and restless and fuss in the middle of the ceremony. They don’t take direction that well and can hold up the process.

You’ll Have to Invite Other Kids

If there’s one kid at the wedding, it becomes difficult to justify not inviting others. Your guests will expect their tots to be in attendance, and that can cause a ruckus if they’re not well behaved.

Intimate Is Better

A lot of people are opting for smaller weddings these days, and that often means trimming down the wedding party. The kids should be the first to go. You’ll save money on their outfits and you’ll have a more intimate affair if you and your significant other just carry in the flowers and rings yourselves.

What to Expect if You’ve Never Been to a Buc-ee’s

Buc-ee’s is an institution in many destinations — particularly Texas — around the southern United States, recognizable via its large red and yellow logo sporting a beaver. Don’t make the mistake of just assuming Buc-ee’s is any old gas station, though. Like Wawa and Sheetz in the Northeast and Midwest, Buc-ee’s is so much more. If you’ve never been, here’s what to expect during your first visit.
