Airlines

Want to finally check Guatemala off your travel bucket list? A trip to the Central American country just became easier thanks to a recently inaugurated, non-stop flight between Chicago (ORD) and Guatemala (GUA) with avianca airlines. The new route provides more than 1,000 seats per week with three weekly flights, up to 180 passengers each day.

Operated by Airbus A320 aircraft, the new Guatemala–Chicago route departs at 8:45 a.m. and arrives at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Chicago–Guatemala flights depart at 2:35 p.m. and land at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

“At avianca, we take pride in continuously expanding our route network for the benefit of our customers,” said Rolando Damas, sales director for Central America, North America and the Caribbean, avianca. “With the inauguration of our direct flight between Chicago and Guatemala, we are committed to enhancing Chicago’s international connectivity and offering passengers a direct and convenient option to reach one of Guatemala’s most attractive destinations.”

Flights last approximately five hours. Tickets can be purchased on avianca airlines’ official website.

The new flight follows on the heels of other exciting additions and updates from the airline. Earlier this year, avianca airlines introduced business class on flights from Los Angeles (LAX) to Bogotá, Colombia (BOG). The airline also recently shifted its name from capital Avianca Airlines to lowercase avianca airlines in a rebrand to make travel more accessible for all.
