YPlan is the app for the perpetual procrastinator and for the spontaneous adventurer. The app for Apple and Android makes finding something to do easy with a curated shortlist of recommended events.
The app prides itself on selecting choice entertainment that you will love. That may be concerts, clubs, art openings, sporting events or any number of other events. They pick them, and all you have to do click on book now and show up. The app does the rest.
Sounds easy, right? Well, it is.
Most events are only listed 48 hours before they open, which is a blessing and a curse. It’s great for last-minute plans, which is exactly how the app markets itself, making “planning ahead so passé”. However, it also means events have the possibility of selling out quickly. But hey, you’re spontaneous and there are a lot of other options, which is the entire point of the app.
Like Uber, YPlan encrypts your credit card information and protects it with SSL, so you only have to enter it once. It is accredited by STAR, a ticket agency certification society that assures you are getting what you are paying for. Once you have confirmed your booking, your ticket will be issued directly to your phone, so there is no need to print anything.
YPlan has glowing reviews from what seems like everywhere, and likes to cite its recommendations from Ashton Kutcher and Pharrell Williams. Currently, YPlan is available for select cities — New York, London, San Francisco and Las Vegas — but it has plans to expand. Look for the app to be coming soon to a city near you.
